The rain mixer
Build the rain you sleep to
Seven layers, each with its own slider: rain, window, roof, leaves, wind, distant thunder and a low hum. It is made live in your browser, so it never loops. Open it full size
Step 1 · pick a room
Rain is generated live in your browser. It never loops.
Step 2 · shape the rain
Step 3 · timer
Six rain rooms
Pick the rain that suits your night
Each room pairs one kind of rain with a playlist of the slowest lofi that fits it. “Rain + lofi” starts both. Window rain for listening, roof rain for cover, leaves for softness, a storm for weather lovers.

The short answer
Are rain sounds good for sleeping?
For many people, yes. Steady rain is a soft, even sound with no message in it, so doors, cars and voices stand out less against it. Choose rain without thunder, keep it quiet, use a timer and put the speaker across the room. The research on rain in particular is thin, so think of it as a comfort, not a cure.

Questions
Rain for sleeping, answered
Is rain good for sleeping?
For many people, yes. Steady rain is a broadband sound with no message in it, so it makes sudden noises (a door, a car) stand out less. Research on rain for sleep is thin, so treat it as a comfort that works for some people, not as a treatment. If you struggle to sleep for weeks, talk to a clinician.
What is the best rain sound for sleep?
Start with a soft, steady rain with no thunder: the “Deep Sleep Drizzle” room. If you want more cover for noise, try rain on the roof. If you like to hear individual drops, try rain on the window.
How loud should rain sounds be for sleeping?
Quiet. Loud enough to blur the small noises that wake you, not loud enough to become the thing you listen to. If you could still have a quiet conversation over it, the level is about right. Put the speaker across the room, not on the pillow.
Should I leave rain sounds on all night?
If you mostly have trouble falling asleep, use the sleep timer (30 to 60 minutes) so everything fades out. If noise wakes you through the night, the 8 hour mix or a long timer makes sense. Keep the level low either way.
Is this real rain or a recording?
The rain is generated live in your browser from filtered noise and randomly timed drops, so it never loops. It is not a field recording. The music is original lofi by Purrple Cat.
Will it work with my phone screen off?
Some mobile browsers pause web audio when the screen locks. The “Dim screen” button blacks out the page and asks the browser to keep the screen awake, so the sound keeps going. Browsers vary, so test it before you rely on it for the night.
